7 Rochester Park
Inside the charming black-and-white building is The Playhouse, where four babysitters are employed to watch over your little ones – for a small fee – and a separate room upstairs where older kids can disappear to play Nintendo Wii or use one of the two computers.
From the all-day breakfast menu (served only on Sundays), try the fry-up or the American, both reasonably priced at $19.50 including orange juice, tea or coffee. The American comes with two fluffy pancakes, golden hash browns, sausages, bacon, and two fried eggs. The fry-up spoils with two perfectly cooked rashers of bacon, scrambled eggs (you can order them any way you like), tomato, mushrooms, a thick doorstep of fresh white toast, and la pièce de résistance: sausages – not the pale and flaccid ones you so often get – but two real pork sausages: fat, juicy and positively bursting with flavour. Children’s meals starts at just $4.50.
