Shop comfortable men’s underwear

23rd September 2020 by Anthia Chng 2 Min Read

If you’re shopping for underwear, the main priorities should be comfort and breathability – especially important for a tropical climate like ours! For this, we recommend Fancies’ sustainable range of men’s underwear with fun and cheeky messages hidden inside the front waistband. Available online and at TheAC, a multi-label boutique at 420 Joo Chiat Road, the local brand’s comfortable and affordable boxer briefs make excellent gifts for your husband or dad – or yourself!

Based in Singapore with a manufacturing arm in Turkey, the family-run business pivoted last year to build their own brand. After much research and planning, they saw a gap in the market for good quality men’s underwear at wallet-friendly prices. The brand was launched in last November and Fancies was born.

The signature fabric

Today, Fancies specialises in men’s boxer briefs made with micromodal. This cellulose-based fabric is extremely soft to the touch and moisture-resistant. Designed in both Singapore and Turkey, the underwear is made in the brand’s ateliers in the Aegean region of Turkey. Micromodal is made by turning tree barks into super-fine and shiny yarn through several eco-friendly processes; it’s a popular fabric for high-quality lingerie, loungewear and men’s underwear, as the fabric is strongly resistant to moisture and shrinkage. This makes it the ideal choice for many luxury clothing brands. To maintain its form, a small amount of spandex (a synthetic fibre) is added to the fabric, keeping the material durable and consistent in shape, wash after wash.

From the design of each piece of underwear to the final packaging, Fancies has full ownership of the supply chain. That means they oversee the whole production process, making sure it’s ethical and transparent. Not only is the micromodal fabric made with natural fibres, but it maintains its shape even after multiple washes; this means the pieces are more sustainable as they can be worn for a long time. Plus, the costs are lowered as there’s no need for middlemen. Those cost savings are then passed down to us, the customers, which means better prices!

What’s new?

On top of its ultra-comfy fabric, Fancies is known for incorporating cheeky prints and unique designs with hidden messages like “Get Lucky” and “Party Harder” in its underwear. A popular pick is the “I Love My Wife” range; this was recently restocked in new colours and fun animal prints like leopard and zebra. Sizes start at Small and go all the way up to XX-Large, so there’s definitely something for everyone.

In line with the brand’s sustainability efforts, Fancies is repurposing leftover fabrics from its manufacturing and turning them into breathable, reusable face masks. For a limited time only, when you buy a set of men’s underwear online or at the store, you’ll get a free and comfortable face mask in a colour or style of your choice.

Worldwide shipping is free for orders over $50. If you’re shopping for someone, gift-wrapping is free – simply email them at orders@shopfancies.com once you’ve placed your order with your order number and personal message!
