Top wedding day beauty tips

21st September 2018 by Anthia Chng 5 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/best-beauty-treatments-for-brides-singapore-wedding/

Getting married is a huge thing, wherever you choose to do it. Whether you’re planning to hold an intimate wedding in Singapore or say “I do” somewhere else across the globe (beach wedding, anyone?), there are certain steps involved in ensuring you look your best on the big day. To make things easier, we’ve compiled a to-do beauty list for brides-to-be. Consider this your go-to guide for looking and feeling like a million bucks!

Getting hitched?

One month before…

The Aesthetic Studio offers a range of package options for brides who are nine, six and three months away from their big day, but even if you’re down to your final month, it’s not too late either. Choose from three types of medical-grade facials – Revitalise, Awaken and Glo-Up – to suit your skin needs and get you in tip-top condition, stat.

If you’re strapped for time, we recommend the Glo-Up facial ($388, 60 minutes), a fuss-free, red carpet treatment that promises to achieve an even glow, safely and gently without downtime. The treatment begins with double cleansing followed by microdermabrasion, which gently exfoliates dead skin cells while unclogging your pores. Next, the skin is treated with an intensive photo-rejuvenation light therapy using two medically-proven technologies: Forever Young Broad Band Light (BBL) and Omnilux LED light therapy. Both treatments help to stimulate the skin’s epidermis to promote cellular renewal, as well as collagen and elastin production. The facial ends with a relaxing and hydrating mask to fill the skin with moisture.

Psst… Spruce things up by requesting for a dose of Calecim Professional Serum, a unique serum formulated with a patented source of umbilical cord lining stem cells, for the ultimate skin boost.

Getting your eyebrows embroidered lets you wake up with perfect-looking arches without having to fill them in! La Source’s 6D eyebrow embroidery ($1388; with two free touch-ups) includes a thorough consultation to determine your desired shape and colour, before the actual tattooing begins. Here’s what Editor-in-Chief Rebecca has to say about the treatment:

Get the brows you’ve always wanted

“The colour turned out perfect, and it’ll lighten after scabbing. They’re a lot thicker than my original eyebrows, but I love them. In a month’s time I’ll need to return to check if there are any gaps, but the effect should last for at least a year. I’m really impressed with the results and would definitely recommend having it done here.”

Psst… You can also choose to head out straight after your brows are done, as there’s minimal redness, no pain or downtime involved with La Source’s special embroidery technique.

Two weeks before…

If you’re thinking of refreshing your locks, visit the salon at least two weeks before your big day so you’ll have some time to settle in and get used to your new cut or colour. Whether you want to do natural-looking highlights or go all out to achieve a platinum blonde look, there are plenty of hair salons that specialise in popular trends including balayage and ombre hair colouring. Our editor Susannah Jaffer visited popular hair salon Kelture before she walked down the aisle; read on for her thoughts!

Before and after

“After applying the colour, which was put on using foils, next up was a delightful wash, scalp and head massage using Aveda’s Blue Malva Shampoo. It’s great for coloured hair and blondes as it helps to neutralise brassiness. Afterwards, I settled back into the chair for a trim and a bouncy blow-dry. Throughout my time at the salon (three and a half hours in total), my hairstylist Augustine was a delight to chat to, and very entertaining. His career has taken him all over the world, and he evidently knew how to treat lots of different hair types. I knew I was in good hands, and was so happy with the results!”

The eyes are the windows to the soul, and that’s why we can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure your peepers are looking fresh and fabulous on your wedding day. Skip the falsies and head to The Lash Company, a lash extension salon located along Kampong Bahru Road. Whether you prefer an everyday look, or you want to try something more dramatic, each set of eyelash extensions is specially tailored to complement your natural lashes. Your visit starts with an in-depth consultation, followed by a deep-cleansing lash spa to remove dead skin, oil, dirt and bacteria for a clean lash line. During the treatment, you’ll also be treated to a collagen eye mask and a hydrating lip mask. After your session, you’re given an aftercare kit to take home with you. Stand out from the crowd with the Full Classic set ($108), which gives you added drama and complements any makeup look.

Manicures in Singapore Trimmings

Tucked away in Dempsey’s quiet Loewen cluster, Trimmings Salon and spa is popular for its range of hair treatments, deluxe facials and nail services. The ambience here is always spot-on; the green surroundings, spacious layout and calming lemongrass scent make each experience relaxing one. If you’re pressed for time, you could opt for an express mani ($20) or pedi ($27). But if you’re looking for something more indulgent, go for the gel pedicure ($80). Besides the usual shaping, filing and buffing, you’ll be treated to a second round of foot-scrubbing that includes your lower legs, as well as a quick, moisturising massage after your toenails are painted. It’s a good 75 minutes of me-time to take your mind off the hectic wedding planning!
