Want to reduce your electricity bill?

22nd April 2019 by Lindsay Yap 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/benefits-of-switching-electricity-retailers-singapore-iswitch/

With the launch of the Open Electricity Market, Singapore now has a wide range of electricity retailers to choose from. But is it worth making the change? To help you decide, take a look at this profile of iSwitch. The company serves over 60,000 residential customers and has a variety of electricity plans that can help you trim your bills.

#1 Savings on your electricity bill

The company offers a variety of fixed-rate and discount-off-tariff plans with savings as high as 30 percent. It also has a unique price plan that comes with a complimentary iPad.

#2 Hassle-free transfer

Switching to an electricity retailer doesn’t affect your electricity supply – SP Group continues to monitor the power grid so there’s no change in meter. iSwitch is able to take care of the transfer; all you need to do is to fill in an online form to apply – it shouldn’t take more than five minutes.

#3 A variety of flexible plans to suit your needs

If you’re unsure whether you’ll be leaving Singapore or moving homes soon, iSwitch offers a range of price plans available for 12, 24 or 36 months. This means you have the flexibility to lock in your savings for up to three years, or, if you’re on a yearly lease or rental contract, opt for a short-term contract instead.

Also, if you cancel your contract early due to relocation, you’ll only need to pay a small flat fee according to your dwelling type instead of early termination charges. Best of all, when you re-contract with iSwitch at your new home, this small flat fee will be credited back into your account to offset your electricity bill – so you actually don’t lose out at all!

#4 Get rewards as you pay

With iSwitch, you can set up recurring credit card payments to pay your bills. That means you can enjoy automatic payments and allow your credit card points to be added automatically every month.

#5 Save the environment with green energy

The company is not only committed to helping you save on your electricity but they’re advocates of sustainable living. Through the iSwitch2Green program, if you sign up for any of the plans online, you’ll get to enjoy green-certified electricity at no additional cost and play a part in reducing emissions. The company offers green electricity to both commercial and residential customers, this includes helping the the first hotel (Hotel Vagabond) and school (Dulwich College Singapore) in Singapore to become 100% carbon neutral in their electricity consumption.

#6 Easy sign-up

Make the switch online in just a few minutes by filling in an online form. If you require assistance for sign-up, you can request a call through the company’s Facebook Messenger. A customer service officer will drop you a line (within one or two working days) and guide you through the process, explain the available plans and answer any queries you might have.

So, which plan should I choose?

  • If you’d like to know exactly how much you’re going to spend each month, fixed tariff plans are for you. You can lock in your electricity rate, no matter what the regulated tariff is.
  • To enjoy savings no matter what, choose the discount-off-tariff plan. With this one, you’ll be able to get a significant discount off the prevailing regulated tariff.

iSwitch is offering exclusive rates for Expat Living readers (until 31 May); check them out and sign up now.
