Whether it’s an ingenious new mascara or a high-tech cleansing tool, beauty has reached new heights this season. Here, we’ve tried and tested some of the ultra-useful products out in Singapore’s stores…
Colour Me Foundation Applicator, $75 for starter kit (comes with two sponge heads)
Fingers and brushes for makeup application? Totally a thing of the past. Founded by Eric Jimenez, former chief educator and global makeup artist for brands such as Urban Decay and Benefit Cosmetics, this new little device enhances and speeds up your makeup application. Its sponge pulses a whopping 15,000 times a minute (mimicking finger-tapping) and applies your foundation evenly for an airbrushed look in less than two minutes. You can replace the sponge easily after a few uses too – they’re available in sets for $13 each. Available at Sephora.
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Detox Eye Cubes, $120
Simple but effective, these easy-to-use cubes contain a cocktail of cucumber, arnica, green tea, chamomile, aloe, caffeine and hyaluronic acid to dramatically reduce the look of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles, and have you looking more well-rested in a jiffy. We’ll be keeping a couple in the freezer for those one-too-many-the-night-before mornings. Available at Sephora.
Braun Face, $99
The cleansing brush is a gadget we’re familiar with, but this two-in-one epilator and cleanser really deserves a mention. On those days when you can’t bear the thought of a beautician’s facial wax or threading, just use the epilator head to precisely remove fine hairs from around the eyebrows, upper lip and chin. It’s super-discreet, the results last for weeks – and the cleansing brush is one of the softest we’ve felt. Our new must-have. Buy it in electronic and department stores island-wide.
Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Precision Lifting & Pore Tightening Concentrate, $105
This potent anti-ageing serum contains highly refined micro-filtered yeast extract and geranium essential oil, clinically demonstrated to give your skin a lifted, bouncier quality. It’s also great for minimising large pores.
Roller Lash Super-Curling & Lifting Mascara by Benefit, $37
We know how many of you love Benefit’s They’re Real! Mascara, so this one’s for you. Specially formulated for those with short, sparse or straight lashes, their latest Hook ’n’ Roll brush grabs, lifts and curls the lashes while delivering a formula that holds for 12 hours.
Caudalie Instant Detox Mask, $53
An indulgent treat that offers serious skincare benefits, brand co-founder and skincare guru Mathilde Thomas’s latest creation will have your skin looking wonderfully rejuvenated in just a few minutes. This facemask treats all forms of free-radical damage through a 99-percent natural gel-cream formula to help rid your skin of toxins and impurities built up over time. Use twice a week for best results. Available at Sephora.
The Body Shop Wonderblur Primer, $42.90
Perfecting your base has become a necessary step before applying your makeup – be it BB cream, CC cream or foundation. Consider this your last step in skincare, instantly smoothing and mattifying your skin’s texture, and blurring fine lines and open pores. After trying it out for ourselves, we’re convinced.
