Eyes are the windows to the soul (or so the saying goes!), but on a more surface level, they are also the first place to show ageing. Prevention is key, so it’s a good idea to invest in a quality eye cream to reduce signs of fatigue – and there’s one for various budgets at Haute Swiss Cosmetics.
Phytocell Eye Contour Cream, Cholley, $223
Formulated with stem cell extracts of Symphytum officinale, a perennial flowering plant and one of the oldest known medicinal plants with anti-inflammatory properties, it works to reduce wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles.
Intensive Eye Contour Cream, Vetia Floris, $187
Nurturing oils from the magnolia flower are the key ingredients in this organic eye product, which promises a firming effect and the minimisation of wrinkles and fine lines. Its organic formula will also reduce any inflammation caused by allergies or chemical irritation.
Lifting Eye Gel, Vetia Floris, $176
This light eye gel contains hyaluronic acid to brighten and revitalise tired eyes. Extracts from the lily flower increase cellular oxygen uptake, while smoothing the skin.
Eye Contour Focus Gel, Hormeta, $118
Using a complex comprised of marine collagen, a potent vitamin mix and various floral extracts, this soothing gel not only helps to fight signs of tiredness, but also replenishes and relaxes the skin around the delicate eye area.
Eye Contour Gel, La Peau, $98
Containing the molecular BCell complex of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and amino acids, this clever formula stimulates cell metabolism, helping to nourish and regenerate skin for a fresh, natural appearance.
0.5% Eye Cream, Karin Herzog, $85
Containing 0.5 percent active oxygen along with a multi-vitamin complex, this eye care cream promises to reduce puffiness and dark circles, considerably diminish wrinkles and illuminate tired eyes.
Applying Your Eye Cream: Do’s and Don’ts
DO: tap or massage product into your skin using light, sweeping strokes. For extra pampering, leave it under your eyes for a few minutes.
DON’T: pull or stretch the skin around your eyes. It’s much more delicate than anywhere else on the face.
DO: apply eye cream and let it sink in first, before applying moisturiser.
DON’T: pile on too much product – just a pea-sized blob should do the trick to cover the under-eye and brow-bone areas.
