Who Drinks There:

Newly launched in July, it already draws a good mix of locals and expats.

Best Thing About It:

Indubitably the beer – and if you like you can have a go at tapping your own from the alfresco font. Just ask cute Barman Sam and he’ll show you how. Pets are welcome: there’s even a pooches’ drinking trough so you and Killer can slake your tropical thirst together.

Signature Drinks:

For beer lovers, Grimbergen 1128, the German beer named after the abbey that brewed it first and the year in which it is first supposed to have been made: say “eleven twenty-eight”. It comes in Blanche, Blond and Ambrée at a reasonable $10 for 250ml and is nothing short of ambrosial. For others, at the alfresco Elyx bar counter they’re mixing vodka cocktails with a base of Absolut Elyx.

Nibbles:

Mainly upmarket versions of local favourites. You must try the deep-fried chicken skin ($10): freshly made, only half as sinful and twice as yummy as pork scratchings.

When To Go:

Tuesdays to Sundays, 4pm to 1am (closed Mondays). Preferably when it’s not raining.
