Who Drinks There:
If you like to enjoy your wine, Champagne or cocktails in cosy, eclectic surroundings, you’ll enjoy The Vintage Room. However, with only two beers on the menu, it’s not for beer drinkers.
Best Thing About It:
This place exudes vintage French chic from the Art Nouveau era; think old Paris Métro station entrances. Sink into a velvet sofa and admire the wooden Art Nouveau-style decorations and wall tiles depicting Champagne bottles. Even the bathroom fits in with the theme – take a look at the great basin.
The Champagne cocktails ($17) are all very quaffable. Some of the Vintage cocktails ($15), like the Caribbean Rose and Jewel, are quite girly, but the classic cocktails ($14) including five types of mojito are less sweet. The menu also boasts over 20 Champagnes and sparkling wines and a selection of old and new world wines.
Nibbles and Noshes:
Déliciae Group Executive Chef Damien Le Bihan has once again come up with a unique menu. The dishes are meant for sharing – highly recommended are the smoked fish and marinated seafood sharing platter and cold cuts sharing platter with Bayonne ham, pâté, duck rillettes, saucisson sec and andouille de Vire ($38 per platter). The fresh goat cheese, caramelised onion and Bayonne ham ($17) served on Poilâne toast is a great combination. French desserts include a tarte tatin ($14), profiteroles ($14) and mousse au chocolat ($12).
When to Go:
Open Tuesday to Saturday; Tuesdays offer $10 mojitos, Wednesdays one-for-one house-pour wines by the glass, Thursdays free Bellinis for ladies, and there’s Happy Hour from 3pm to 7pm on Fridays.
