Home of the definitive lounge lizard, Blu Jaz is so chilled that getting up to leave will be the most strenuous part of the evening.

The Crowd: This is the domain of young, artsy, quirky types who like to chill out and listen to good live music.

The Tunes: Blu Jaz is renowned for its resident and guest musicians and DJs. Playing everything from blue grass, jazz and Latin to hip-hop, this is a regular haunt for aspiring talent.

Our Tipple: Tiger beer at a reasonable $6 a glass, or bottled Corona for $7.50. House wine is from $9.50 per glass.

On the Menu: The à la carte menu is a mix of Western and Asian dishes at very reasonable prices, including chicken curry for just $8 and rib eye steak for $16.90. There are also some delicious bar snacks, our favourite being the mozzarella cheese sticks ($7.50).

What We Like: The ambience and the feeling that people are here to have a good time – not just to be seen. The décor is an eclectic mix of boho lounge chairs, woven-fabric stools, and designer chairs, which make the place feel super cosy. There is also a nice outdoor area for smokers (or so we’ve heard).
The space is perfect for a party and you can book the entire bar for your shindig.

Best Time to Go: It’s always happy hour at Blu Jaz, but check the website for regular updates on the music-set schedule.
