Trekking in Lombok
If you’re looking for a challenge and a way to get fit before hitting the beaches of Lombok and the Gilis, why not venture up Mount Rinjani? Soaring 3,726 meters above sea level, this is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, attracting thousands of trekkers and climbers annually. The huge crater near the top contains a beautiful lake, Danau Segara Anak (meaning “child of the sea”), and a smaller volcanic cone called Mount Baru Jari, which was formed a couple of hundred years ago. There are number of caves, small waterfalls and hot springs located around the volcano. All trek options, from two to six days, include an experienced guide, a great team of porters, all camping gear and meals; you just have to bring the determination – and a woolly hat!
Island Retreat Near Singapore
With more than ten years of operation and three consecutive TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards under its belt, Telunas Resorts has now launched a new accommodation option: Telunas Private Island. Responding to guest requests and utilising the same underlying principle of simplicity that applies at its first property, Telunas Resorts purchased an adjacent island to develop a second getaway for those seeking a more luxurious experience. After three years of hard work, Telunas Private Island is now open, a desirable island escape just 50km from Singapore.
Elegant sunsets in Kuta
If you’re keen for a holiday that takes in some of the hustle and bustle of Kuta, the Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort is a luxurious getaway in the heart of all the action. It’s just a short walk from the impressive Beachwalk retail and lifestyle hub, and it also overlooks Kuta Beach – in fact, the sand is just a few steps away. The hotel design was inspired by Bali’s beautiful rice paddies and features layers of lush, terraced gardens. There’s also an impressive infinity pool. Rooms are elegantly furnished and come with plenty of extras, including free Wifi – always a bonus. Make sure you take in the sunset from the rooftop bar or lounge. +62 361 846 555
Seafood in Jimbaran
With just the right number of shops nearby, great seafood restaurants and the stunning beach, Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran – which opened last year – has the best of everything for a relaxing break. A highlight is the hotel’s 1,300-square-metre saltwater lagoon overlooking the sea; lots of fun and so convenient – just step off your porch directly into the water. Le Meridien is also within steps of the popular Jimbaran seafood market, with its dining tables right on the beach and water almost at your feet. It’s the perfect place to enjoy local cuisine – especially seafood – and very cheap beer (a large Bintang beer will set you back $3.50).
One tip: do watch out when buying the seafood, as it’s priced per kilogram and it can be difficult to work out how much you’re actually ordering. +62 361 846 6888
