Art sale: Make your walls come alive

We’ve all got an empty wall somewhere, just waiting for that special piece of art to come along and fill it with life. Sometimes all we need is a little inspiration to bring a splash of colour to a room that’s lost its sparkle.

This September, Chope4Me has got you covered. They sell original artworks and prints via their website and showroom and, luckily for us, they’re about to move shop. Their Moving Out Sale runs from 15 September to 15 November and with up to 30% off the entire collection on display at their current Ubi Avenue premises, you’re sure to bag yourself an artsy bargain!

Alongside the sale, Chope4Me are also featuring a special guest artist in support of Tabung Amal Aidilfitri Trust (TAA). TAA is a charitable organisation that raises money to help the disadvantaged celebrate the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, allowing them to mark the end of Ramadan with dignity. All proceeds from the sale of Singapore artist S. Mohdir’s work will be donated to the cause.

Now without further ado, let’s take a peek at some of what’s on offer:

Sharif Bangi
Sharif Bangi is a highly acclaimed photographer and cinematographer with over 40 years’ experience in Singapore’s media industry. He’s seen a lot of changes throughout his career and no doubt they’ve influenced his outlook on the world. Having achieved just about every possible film industry plaudit around, he’s taken a step back from the world of moving images in recent years and focused his attention on still photography. He applies his keen visual eye to his love of nature, producing beautiful stills of flora, fauna and the natural world.

Ferns: A delicate dance of light and shadow play out on this close up of a fern.

Known only as M, this mysterious artist lets his (or her) art speak for itself. A collection of stylish graphic designs, many of which feature pointillist techniques, mean M’s work would make a striking addition to any home’s décor.

S. Mohdir
The late S. Mohdir (Haji Mohamed Abdul Kadir) was born in Singapore in 1936. His love for painting began early and by the tender age of 17 he’d made his way across the seas to study art at the Famous Artist School in the USA. From abstract works in juxtaposed form to landscapes, figures and batik paintings, his works in acrylics and watercolours are much sought after. A selection of his works will be on display and available to purchase to raise funds for the TAA.

By the Nature is a great example of S. Mohdir’s signature batik-style acrylic painting. Cool and calm, this is nature untouched by human hands.

Naga plays with a riot of colours to celebrate the Southeast Asian dragon or “naga” in a more abstract composition.
