Are you guilty of making this beauty mistake?

14th December 2018 by Susannah Jaffer 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/anti-ageing-treatments-singapore-cutis-dont-neglect-your-neck-ultherapy/

As we get older (oh, the inevitable!) it’s natural to give a bit more thought to self-care and our skincare routines. We may invest in targeted serums and creams, start applying sun protection a bit more religiously or take time out for a facial or two. But did you know the skin on your neck and décolletage deserves just as much attention as your face? Hear us out.

Just like the skin’s structure on our complexions, the skin gracing our neck and chest area is also thin and delicate, which makes it one of the first places to show signs of ageing. Our collagen stores here and in the deeper part of the tissues in our face are often the first to deplete. That’s what causes sagging, untoned skin around the neck and wrinkling on the chest. (Yes, it’s not just down to too much time in the sun!)

There’s only so much that lotions and potions can do to rejuvenate this area, so if you want to reverse the years and really see results, a non-invasive procedure such as Ultherapy is an effective option. It’s an FDA-cleared skin lifting procedure which uses ultrasound energy to tighten your skin naturally.

Get Lifted: How Ultherapy Works

So, how does it work and what does it feel like? Ultherapy encourages your collagen stores to wake up and multiply by delivering focused energy to your skin’s foundational layer, without disrupting its surface. Using just the right amount of energy and temperature, it jumpstarts a regenerative process to produce fresh, new collagen. Your skin will gradually tighten and firm over time, and you’ll see the most significant results after two to three months.

Throughout the 90-minute procedure you’ll be lying comfortably on a bed while an applicator (called an ultrasound transducer) is placed on top of the area being treated. This step allows your doctor to be very accurate in determining exactly where you’re lacking in collagen stores and where they should focus their heat. Because of this, it’s important to make sure you’re working with a qualified professional who knows their stuff. “An aesthetic doctor’s experience matters significantly. After all, you’d want to fully trust the person working on your body!” says Dr Sylvia Ramirez, founder of Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, who has been practicing for 25 years.

What we love about Ultherapy, aside from its skin plumping benefits of course, is that aftercare is very simple and there are minimal to no side effects. Some experience a bit of redness post treatment or tenderness, but that clears up within a day or two. You can also apply makeup straight after the treatment if you need to. So, whether you’re running around after the family or need to get back into the office, you can return to your routine as normal while the treatment starts to work its magic.
