Investing in your appearance

13th June 2019 by Anthia Chng 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/aesthetic-treatments-for-men-amaris-b-clinic/

There used to be a stigma attached to males having aesthetic treatments. Today, it’s much more common for men to invest in themselves, whether it’s facials, cosmetic surgery, fat reduction or getting a tattoo removed. Often this is because they feel it might help their career progression – especially in jobs where first impressions matter; sometimes, it’s simply because they like to look good. We zero in on three popular medical aesthetic treatments commonly requested by male patients at Amaris B Clinic, an integrated men’s clinic in Singapore.

#1 Gynecomastia surgery

Gynecomastia – or enlarged male breasts – affects almost 70 percent of adolescent boys, and 65 percent of middle-aged and older men. Ageing, side effects of medication, hormonal imbalance and a dip in testosterone level are common culprits. Main symptoms include the enlargement of the glandular tissue and tenderness in both breasts. While such symptoms are common during puberty due to hormonal changes, if they don’t go away when one reaches adulthood, surgical intervention may be required to counter the condition.

Do you have “man boobs”?

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to get rid of gynecomastia just from working out – and, if left untreated, it can have negative effects on a person’s self-esteem and confidence levels. The predominant way to treat the condition is through gynecomastia surgery. The aim is to permanently remove the tissue and sculpt the chest area for a more defined physique.

#2 Pico Acne Scars Laser

Acne doesn’t just affect teens; it can plague adults too. Even when the inflammation clears up, you can be left with ugly scars and spots that often take months to fade. One solution is Picocare, an FDA-approved picosecond laser treatment aimed at reducing acne scars and enlarged pores. Performed only by a certified doctor, Pico Acne Scars Laser uses a fractional hand-piece with a wide range of spot sizes for precision.

The 450-picosecond pulse delivered by Picocare is an upgrade from older versions; it boasts greater power and shortened pulses, resulting in safer, quicker treatments with less downtime. In the treatment of scars, the laser penetrates deeper into the skin to deliver pulses that cause tiny globules of air. During recovery, collagen fills up the bubbles and raises indentations caused by the scars. This results in a visibly smoother complexion.

#3 Pico Tattoo Laser

Regret getting that tattoo? Instead of constantly finding ways to cover up, consider removing it permanently with Picocare laser!

Pico Tattoo Laser penetrates effectively into skin, helping to target specific areas while minimising collateral damage to the surrounding tissues – which means less downtime. After the full course of treatment, the area loses pigmentation, resulting in a colour that’s lighter than the surrounding skin. Gradually, the treated area will even out and return to your normal skin colour over the next two to four weeks. For best results, you’ll need two to six sessions, repeated every one to four weeks.
