Aesthetic treatments to turn back the clock

Collagen and elastin are our skin’s essential building blocks. Collagen is responsible for the firmness of our skin, while elastin is for elasticity. A plentiful store of both keeps our complexions supple, plump, bouncy and youthful. The downside of the ageing process is that we naturally lose these stores, resulting in – yes you guessed it! –  fine lines around the eyes, cheeks and mouth, eyelids, jawline and the neck area. A dedicated skincare routine helps, but if you’re looking for a more significant change, there are a number of super anti-ageing aesthetic beauty treatments out there which don’t require any heavy-duty invasive surgery (hurrah!) and can still tackle your anti-ageing woes, wrinkles, double chins and all.

In need of a little lift in a few areas? A combined treatment plan could be the answer.

Your anti-ageing plan

An experienced doctor will develop a customised treatment plan for you depending on your skin concerns, combining just the right amount of each FDA-approved treatment (such as injectables, threads, infrared and ultrasound technologies) to provide a more holistic approach and give each area the sensitive touch it needs. Dr Sylvia Ramirez, Medical & Scientific Director at the Orchard-based Cutis Medical Laser Clinics, focuses on combination therapies to address different levels and impacts of ageing. “Our team provide you with a detailed consultation, computerised skin analysis and a customised treatment plan that will help determine which procedure is suitable for your skin.” What’s more, their team will help you develop a short, medium or long term plan combining the most effective treatments for you to suit both your time frame, availability (take note, some combo treatments can be conveniently done same day) and your budget.

So, just what types of procedures could be included in your treatment plan? Read on for a list of the must-knows!

Ultherapy

A name you’ve probably heard of, this non-invasive procedure uses ultrasound technology to target the deepest layers of the skin, medically called the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS for short!) These are the layers that plastic surgeons typically work on during face-lifts, and it’s where the most effective tightening and lifting can occur. It’s used to give a gentle lift to the brow area, upper and lower face, neck and even the décolletage.

Fillers

These injectable gels are used to replace a loss of volume when fat pads in the face start to sag or disappear. They’re ideal for enhancing cheekbones, plumping up lips (a popular treatment for 2016!) defining the chin, contouring the face, and generally decreasing fine lines and dark circles so you look better rested.

Titan

Used for skin tightening, this light treatment method uses infrared light to target water in the skin through volumetric heating, which stimulates new collagen growth to improve lax skin, folds and lines.

Threads

Minimally invasive, threads are used for lifting and collagen building. It uses absorbable threads made from polylactic acid or polydioxanone (the same materials used in surgery) to gently and immediately lift the face, reducing wrinkles and restoring volume.

Botox

Ideal for combatting wrinkles, injecting Botox removes fine lines and wrinkles around the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet around the eyes
