6 Romantic Holiday Destinations in Asia

19th May 2017 by Emily Finch 4 Min Read

Fancy spending an amazing time with your partner but the thought of the long flights and inconvenience is holding you back? Here are some scenic destinations in Asia that will not only be in relatively close range to Singapore, but will also provide you with almost anything you could ever want for in a romantic getaway!

Stunning views of the Indian Ocean

Komandoo Maldives Island Resort, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives Islands

Komandoo Maldives Island Resort was recently announced as being ranked the 5th best resort in the Maldives – and even more exciting, the world’s 5th most romantic resort according to TripAdvisor. If you want to do something super romantic for your partner, stay at one of Komandoo’s Jacuzzi Water Villas.

These stunning villas are on wooden poles, and provide couples with an insanely beautiful view of the Indian Ocean. The atmosphere is always very romantic, and the utter tranquility makes this place perfect for honeymoons and relaxing getaways. Some things you may like to know are that they have amazing facilities too, like free wi-fi, a mini bar, a flat screen TV and even a private jacuzzi with ocean views… just to name a few. There’s honestly no better way to create an intimate setting with somebody than being away from the hustle and bustle and being out on the ocean.

Private infinity pools… Won’t mind if I do!

The Place Luxury Boutique Villas, Koh Tao, Surat Thani Province

The Place has nine stunning luxury boutique villas, all having their very own private infinity pools, perfect for a couple opting for total privacy and relaxation. They’re all placed in the hills above Sairee, which is close range of all the best restaurants, bars, shops and also the longest beach on Koh Tao… at the same time, it’s far enough to soak in all the tranquility and freshness that comes with staying up in the hills.

The villas have a big open-plan area with spacious bedrooms, an en-suite dressing room, a living area, contemporary bathrooms and other amazing features like constant sea-view and free wi-fi. To be honest, the views itself here would make for an unforgettable, romantic getaway!

Cool comfort at the Ceylon Tea Trails

Ceylon Tea Trails

Wanting to try something a little different to the normal beach resort kind of getaway? If your partner enjoys doing outdoor things such as trekking, biking and even picnicking, there are spectacular locations you could visit each day in cool comfort at the Ceylon Tea Trails. You can either book a room or the whole bungalow, and enjoy a magnificent romantic holiday in the heart of Sri Lanka’s absolutely breathtaking Ceylon tea country.

There are four different bungalows, so if you have a specific vision of what you want, we’re sure you can find something suitable here. Summerville has the fresh air of a country cottage, Castlereagh has a cool complex style of its own, the high colonial Tientsin – one of the first planter’s residences to be built in Ceylon, and the slightly more modern Norwood, exuding an awesome 50’s character.

Kick back and relax with beautiful surrounding views

The Kayon Ubud Resort, Bali, Indonesia

The Kayon Resort is placed on the Ubud hills side, surrounded by the beautiful holy Petanu River and tropical rainforests. This gives the resort a constant feeling of utter relaxation and intimacy, perfect for a romantic getaway for you and your partner. It’s only a 10 minute drive away from Ubud centre, yet designed in complete harmony with the stunning nature around it.

The little details and decorations are absolutely stunning too – having the Ramayana story relief on stone wall, creating a romantic ambiance everywhere you go. There are River Edge Pool Villas, Kayon River Suites and Valley Deluxe Rooms… basically whatever you’re looking for in a romantic stay – they’ll for sure have something to accommodate you for!

Serenity at it’s finest…

Song Saa Private Island, Cambodia

The breathtaking islands of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong are huddled side-by-side in the crystal blue waters of Cambodia’s Koh Rong archipelago. The locals know them together as “Song Saa”, which means “The Sweethearts” in the Khmer language. Song Saa Private Island is Combodia’s first luxury private island resort to open, and is part of the small amount of ocean view resorts that you’re able to choose from.

If you decide to bring your lucky man or woman here, it basically means you’ll spend most of your time in serene seclusion, overseeing ridiculously beautiful views of the water from the comforts of your bed… and when you step outside of your little paradise, you can pick from so many free activities provided by the resort, like sunrise yoga, snorkeling, sea kayaking and the island safari. By the looks of it, this place looks like an incredible romantic destination.

Keen for a secluded dip in a luxurious pool?

Amanjiwo, Central Java, Indonesia

The Amanjiwo is a stunning luxury resort found in the heart of central Java, a very seductive and secluded area that we know you and your partner would absolutely adore. Since it’s at a raised level, you can see some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Southeast Asia, it’s so beautiful people even describe it as “hypnotic”.

You’d be able to see volcanoes, paddy fields, villages and one of the Buddhist’s most sacred sites, the Borobudur Temple. To make this even better, (yes there’s something that makes it even better!) you can fully enjoy the view whilst taking a dip into the 40-metre infinity pool. The Amanjiwo’s Suites have four-pillar king-size beds on raised terrazzo platforms, spacious garden terraces, lounging pavilions, and some even have private swimming pools – who wouldn’t want to stay here?

Emily Finch

Always on the hunt for her next resto review, Emi has spent the last four years at EL munching and drinking her way around the island. Not one to turn down a free-flow opportunity, a personal highlight has been attending a super-brunch (yes, they exist!), and she now spends most evenings "power walking" it all off! Her active daughters and highly strung woofer keep her busy when she's not chained to her laptop managing digital content.
