New Year’s resolutions worth keeping!

17th July 2018 by Emily Finch 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.sg/2018-detox-resolutions-singapore/

So, you’ve no doubt overindulged over the last few weeks and quite right too – Christmas does only come around once a year! Time for some serious detox? Or, perhaps it’s time you ticked a few more places off your travel bucket list? Anyone else out there vowing to reboot their fashion or beauty routines? Here’s what we’ll be going by for 2018. Trust us, these are worth bookmarking!

#1. Eat more fruit and veg

The health benefits of an eating routine that involves cutting out meat products is well-documented. We’ve rounded up a hot-list of stunning vegetarian and vegan-friendly restos around town to get you started.

#2. Get fit

detox marathons: race woman running

Surely this is on your resolution list? Try and opt for a routine that has longevity and fits in with your daily lifestyle. Taking on a challenge for charity is a great way to maintain a purpose and, if nothing else, the fear factor of not completing it should be motivation enough!

#3. Take on more champagne brunches

OK, so this isn’t detox, but who wants to do dry January anyway? This line-up of venues should become your go-to list of where to go around town to impress guests or that special someone!

#4. Try the aesthetic route

Anyone over the age of 40 will appreciate how nature (and by that we mean gravity!) takes hold of the visage and body. All of a sudden, almost overnight, the face staring back at you in the mirror seems to have aged. And heaven help you if you’ve overindulged the night before! There’s no shame in taking matters into professional hands.

#5. Get pierced (again!)

Many of you will likely have your ears pierced, but there appears to be a growing trend (early mid-life crisis?) to getting a second piercing done. Or perhaps you could brave the nose or belly button option?

Read: Where to go to get your ears pierced

#6. Update the wardrobe

Singapore’s climate makes it hard to wear seasonal fashion, and the only time we really get to enjoy wearing our fave pair of jeans is most likely in the cinema! But, staying cool doesn’t mean losing your fashion cool, and if you can’t find what you need in the shops, head online.

#7. Take the road less travelled

detox, Getaways from Singapore

We’re slightly/massively travel-obsessed at Expat Living, and we’re always on the hunt for the next place to go. Geography makes it oh-so-easy for us to hop off the island for a few nights. Whether you’re after a beach desto, or something a little more intrepid and cultured, we’ve got you covered.

#8. Explore more of Singapore

Gardens by the Bay

If you’re only here for a few years, it will go by in a flash, so make sure you take advantage of all the island has to offer before you’re heading “home” again!  Even if you’re remaining in Singapore longer term, it’s good to keep abreast of the new places that are springing up across the island, so you can take visitors to them.

Good luck with your 2018 pursuits, and stay happy and healthy!

Emily Finch

Always on the hunt for her next resto review, Emi has spent the last four years at EL munching and drinking her way around the island. Not one to turn down a free-flow opportunity, a personal highlight has been attending a super-brunch (yes, they exist!), and she now spends most evenings "power walking" it all off! Her active daughters and highly strung woofer keep her busy when she's not chained to her laptop managing digital content.
